"High Tech Hawaii" looks at Internet security

When computer hackers caused the slowdowns of major Web sites last week, the public again questioned the security of the Internet. Web users were concerned about conducting business and personal transactions online and wanted advice on safeguarding their information.

Tonight's "High Tech Hawaii" will discuss the the hype and reality of security on the Internet. Joining host David Lassner will be Kiman Wong, general manager of Internet services for Oceanic Cable, LavaNet Systems Architect Clifton Royston and Hawai'i InfraGuard Program co-founder Jodi Ito, manager of UH Information Technology Services.

"High Tech Hawaii" is a live, monthly call-in show produced by the University of Hawai'i to shed light on high technology activities within the state. The show airs on the fourth Wednesday of each month during the academic year from 8 to 9 p.m. During the live airing of the program, questions may be called in to 956-5670 or 1-800-342-7949 (neighbor islands) or sent by e-mail to hth@hawaii.edu.

The show can be seen live on PEG Access cable channels throughout the state as well as on GTE Americast. On O'ahu Cable, it is on Channel 55, on GTE Channel 21, on Kaua'i Channel 10 and on Hawai'i Channel 4 (Hilo area) or 13 (Kona).
