Regents establish Visiting Professorship in UH Manoa College of Engineering
The University of Hawai`i Board of Regents today established the Bob Y.K. Wong Visiting Professorship in Civil Engineering at UH Manoa.
The new position is the initial step in establishing what will be the first professorial chair in the College of Engineering. It is funded by an endowment gift from the late Bob Y.K. Wong, a UH engineering alumnus whose 30-year career as a civil engineer included work on the H-3 freeway, the Ford Island Causeway and projects along the Honolulu waterfront.
The professorial chair in the College's Department of Civil Engineering
will establish and maintain ties with Asian and Pacific basin universities.
The goal is to share and develop expertise and further knowledge in such
areas as transportation, tropical soils, flood control and structural issues
related to earthquakes and strong winds.
