UH Prof. Yanagimachi Invited to Join NIH Grant Review Panel Ryuzo Yanagimachi, professor of anatomy and reproductive biology in the University of Hawai'i John A. Burns School of Medicine, has been invited to serve as a member of the National Institutes of Health Reproductive Biology Study Section, Division of Research Grants. Study sections review grant applications submitted to the NIH, make recommendations on these applications to the appropriate NIH national advisory council or board, and survey the status of research in their fields of science. Members are selected on the basis of their demonstrated competence and achievement in their scientific discipline. Yanagimachi, internationally renowned for his work in reproductive biology and in vitro fertilization, was honored last fall with the International Prize in Biology, presented annually by the Japan Academy of Sciences.
