Board of Regents Approves Hiring of Search Firm, Requests Administrative Plan to Separate President and Chancellor Positions
The following report was presented to the Board of Regents at this morning's meeting by Regent Lily Yao, Chair of the Committee on Personnel Relations:
"At the June Board meeting, the Committee on Personnel Relations was charged with recommending a firm to provide presidential search services to the Board of Regents. After receiving proposals from four firms and interviewing two finalists, your committee recommends that the firm of Heidrick and Struggles be retained by the Board."
"The issue of having a separate Chancellor for UH-Manoa is an integral part of the presidential search process. It is requested that the administration provide the Board with a plan to address the issue of a separate Chancellor for UH Manoa at one of its fall meetings, provided that the separation is made without incurring additional costs."
A motion to approve the hiring of the search firm and to direct the administration to do the proposed study was subsequently approved.
