UH Public Health Student Wins Internship And FellowshipCharity Camaddo, a master's degree student at the University of Hawai'i School of Public Health, has been selected in a national competition to spend a 12-week internship at the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) in Atlanta, Georgia. Camaddo will work on a project involving the role of industrial hygiene in respiratory-disease health-hazard evaluations. As a student intern, she will have the opportunity to enhance knowledge gained in the classroom with applications to real-life scenarios. Camaddo, who came to UH from Concord, California, has also been awarded a fellowship from the Association of Schools of Public Health (ASPH)/CDC. She will spend a year working in Occupational Lung Disease Epidemiology at the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health at the CDC. The ASPH/CDC fellowship program enables graduate-degree students to round out their academic training by contributing to a national public health project that complements the mission of the CDC. While at the CDC, fellows can interact with leading experts in public health, gain first-hand experience with state-of-the-art technology and acquire skills and knowledge that will enhance their careers. |
