Former UH Student Leader Named a University Trustee in Ohio Former Associated Students of the University of Hawai'i President Rachel L. Bolante has been appointed to the University of Cincinnati Board of Trustees. Bolante's was one of eight student trustee appointments to Ohio institutions announced by Ohio Governor George V. Voinovich this fall. Bolante, listed in the governor's news release as an Independent from Cincinnati, was appointed for a term ending January 1, 1999. She is a graduate student in the Department of Cell Biology, Neurobiology and Anatomy at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and co-president of the University of Cincinnati Organization of Health Science Graduate Students. While attending UH Manoa, Bolante twice served as student body president (199293 and 199394), was selected Homecoming Scholar in 1994 and made the dean's list in 1995. She was also a contributing writer to the Ka Leo student newspaper and very active in clubs and organizations. She received her UHM bachelor's degree in liberal studies in 1995 for an interdisciplinary pre-medicine program that included courses in anatomy, physiology, psychology and sociology for a broad understanding of the health field. Student members of Ohio university boards of trustees serve for two years; they have no voting power and do not attend executive sessions of the board. |
