| What: | "Green House Hawai'i Project: An Exhibition Promoting Environmentally Responsive Design in Hawai'i" focuses on improving architectural design and construction practices as they relate to Hawai'i's beautiful yet limited resources and environment. The exhibit reveals that environmentally responsive construction incorporates thoughtful design as well as Earth-friendly materials and practices; building with an eye to the long-term future need not be more expensive in the short term than conventional construction. |
| When: | Weekdays 104, through November 14. |
| Where: | University of Hawai'i School of Architecture Gallery |
| Who: | The Green House Hawai'i Project is supported by a variety of public and private organizations, including the UH School of Architecture; the federal Environmental Protection Agency; Hawai'i state agencies including DBEDT Energy Office and the Department of Health; and the Building Industries Association of Hawai'i. Project coordination is a pro bono effort of Gail Suzuki-Jones, DBEDT's coordinator of the Clean Hawai'i Center. Media representatives may arrange an escorted walk-through of the exhibit with School of Architecture researcher Steve Meder (955-8341) or architecture Prof. Victor Olgyay (956-6845), the school's director of research. |
