William S. Richardson School of Law Receives New Endowment |
Marshall Goodsill and his wife, Ruth Caley Goodsill, recently joined with the Goodsill Anderson Quinn & Stifel law firm to establish an endowment in the firm's name at the UH Foundation to support academic excellence at the William S. Richardson School of Law.
The Goodsill Anderson Quinn & Stifel Endowment Fund to assist the professional development of law faculty in the areas of business, trust and tax law, was formally announced by Mr. Goodsill and the firm's managing partner, Miki Okumura, at a September 13 reception honoring Mr. and Mrs. Goodsill at the firm's Ali`i Place office suite. Several partners, associates, staff members, former partners and friends paid tribute to Marshall Goodsill by presenting Dean Lawrence C. Foster with additional contributions to the endowment in his honor.
Goodsill Anderson Quinn & Stifel traces its roots to 1878 and remains
one of the largest law firms in Hawai`i. Goodsill admits he was among the
senior members of the bar who opposed the idea of a law school at the University
of Hawai`i in the late 60s and early 70s, but has since become one of its
leading advocates. The Goodsill Anderson Quinn & Stifel law firm has
consistently supported the School of Law since its establishment in 1973
and has several notable UH alumni on its roster of partners and associates.
