International Students are focus of Honolulu Conference
When: Wednesday, Nov. 11, 8:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, 8:30-5:30 Friday, Nov. 13, 7:30 a.m.-12:30
Where: Hawaiian Regent at Waikiki What: Region XII (California, Nevada, Hawai'i) Conference of NAFSA: Association of International Educators Sessions focus on recruiting, retaining and meeting the needs of international college students, particularly during Asian economic crisis; U.S. State Department concerns and international students; Fulbright Scholarships and grants; English language instruction for international students; and more. Who: Plenary session speaker (Wednesday): Marlene Johnson Executive Director of NAFSA, former lieutenant governor of Minnesota, US General Services Administration executive, and private-sector executive. Luncheon sepaker (Thursday): Patsy Mink, Hawai'i's Second District Representative to Congress. Other guests include NAFSA representatives; Immigration and Naturalization SErvice representatives; U.S. Information Agency representatives; and speakers from Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia and Taiwan. |
