Sri Chinmoy, leader in world peace, to speak at UH For over three decades Sri Chinmoy has tirelessly dedicated his life to the pursuit of world peace and the fulfillment of the human spirit. During his quest for global peace he has shared moments of inspiration with countless world figures. His books, art, music, poetry and visions have touched millions of people. Besides meeting political and religious leaders, Sri Chinmoy provides services to the United Nations by sponsoring a series of programs, lectures and concerts to promote world peace and honors the contributions of UN Member States. He founded the Oneness-Home Peace Run, history's longest and largest relay run for peace, and since 1986, nearly 600 significant landmarks around the globe have been dedicated to peace as part of the Sri Chinmoy Peace-Blossoms. He is also, a champion weight lifter, runner and athlete. Doris Ching, vice president for Student Affairs, will present a tribute to recognize Sri Chinmoy's presence at UH. He has previously been recognized by the University in 1993, when he received the Spark M. Matsunaga Institute for Peace Award. Sri Chinmoy has won other numerous awards, proclamations and honorary degrees for his wide variety of ways and creative activities to better human kind.
