University of Hawai'i Nurses Ace Licensing Exam Spring graduates of the University of Hawai'i at Manoa School of Nursing have scored a 100 percent passage rate on the National Council Licensure Exam required for employment as a registered nurse. The performance of the May baccalaureate graduates brings the UH school's overall passage rate to 97 percent for the 199697 academic year. "We're pleased, but not surprised, that our students have done so well," comments School of Nursing Dean Rosanne Harrigan. "They are talented, committed and hard-working, and we equip them with a strong foundation of basic knowledge and sound experience in practice of nursing." The School of Nursing graduated 37 students from its bachelor of science in nursing program last year. The average grade point average for this graduating class was 3.5 out of a possible 4.0. The UHM School of Nursing was established in 1951 and is accredited by
the National League for Nursing and Hawai'i State Board of Nursing. In addition
to the bachelor's degree, it offers a master of science degree and post-master's
certificate in nursing. The school prepares students for certification as
clinical nurse specialists or nurse practitioners in adult, family, gerontology,
mental health, women's health or pediatric nursing, as well as nursing administration.
The school also houses the Department of Dental Hygiene, which is accredited
by the Commission on Dental Accreditation. |
