American Hawai'i Cruise scholars will "make a difference"

Undergraduates attending UH on scholarships provided by American Hawai'i
Cruises. American Hawai'i Cruises Community Service Scholarships of $2,000
each are awarded annually to one student from each Hawai'i public high school-39
scholars in all-who will attend any campus of the University of Hawai'i
system. As part of their scholarship, the students agree to participate
in two community service projects a year. |

In observance of national "Make a Difference Day," the students
will work with 'Ahahui Malama I Ka Lokahi and employees of American Hawai'i
Cruises to plant wiliwili, ilima, pili and other native species in Papakolea.
The plan is to get these plants started on O'ahu and then transplant them
on Kaho'olawe when the plants are mature enough to be transferred. |
