Center for Chinese Studies seminar , "Images of Women in Chinese Cinema," complements Hawai'i International Film Festival

Professor Wang Rui of Ohio University will present a free lecture, "Images of Women in Chinese Cinema," Thursday, Nov. 5, noon-1:30 in the Tokioka Room (Moore 319) at UH Manoa. The public is welcome to attend the free seminar, a presentation of the Center for Chinese Studies in the UH School of Hawaiian, Asian and Pacific Studies.

Professor Wang Rui is Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence at Ohio University. He is also a professor of film at the Beijing Film Academy, author and film critic for Contemporary China, and senior research fellow at the China Film Art Research Center and China Film Archive. His talk will examine the representation of women in different Chinese films. He will be in Honolulu for the Hawai'i International Film Festival (Nov. 6-Nov. 13). His lecture should be of interest to anyone who appreciates film, and particularly those who plan to attend the Festival.
