The UH Elder Law Program's "Night of the Living Will" is open to people of all ages. This is an opportunity to put into writing your instructions about what to do if you become incapacitated and are no longer able to communicate decisions concerning your medical treatment. UHELP will have an attorney, a notary and witnesses to help you execute two documents: the living will and the durable power of attorney for health care. The living will tells your family and physician what kind of medical care you desire when you are no longer able to communicate. The durable power of attorney for health care gives someone you choose the authority to enforce your living will and to make other health care decisions for you.
