Low-cost workshop helps women control their financial destiny

A two-part workshop, "Money Matters for Women," will give participants tools and references to organize and plan their resources to get what they want out of life. The personal financial management sessions are co-sponsored by the Executive Office on Aging and the University of Hawai'i Colleges of Arts and Sciences' Academy for Lifelong Learning.

The workshop runs from 9 a.m. to noon on two consecutive Saturdays, September 20 and 27, in the Campus Center Ballroom at UH Manoa. Linda J. Cox, who chairs the Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics in the UH College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources, will lead both sessions. Cox is a well-known economist who has offered numerous workshops, seminars and short courses on financial management for business and for individuals.

Registration forms are available at the Executive Office on Aging, 250 Hotel Street, Suite 109, Honolulu, HI 96813, 586-0100. The $15 registration fee (make checks payable to Executive Office on Aging) includes materials for both sessions and Continental breakfast both mornings. Submit registration fees and forms by September 15 to the Executive Office on Aging.

Parking at the Manoa campus is $3, payable upon entry. The campus is also served by TheBus local routes 4, 6 and 18; phone 848-5555 for Saturday schedule information.
