UH Libraries' Online Catalog Will be Closed Weekend of Oct. 911 UHCARL services of the University of Hawai'i libraries will be unavailable Friday (after 5:30 p.m. HST), Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 911 while the library can upgrade its computer. The UH Library will upgrade its mainframe computer hardware so that Year 2000 compliant software can be loaded and tested before the end of the year. This means that the online catalog (UHCARL), automated book check out and dial-in access will not be available during that weekend. Hamilton and Sinclair Libraries will maintain regularly posted hours, and there will be additional staff to assist users in the buildings. Indexes, abstracts and other information on CDROM will be available, as will access to the World Wide Web. Students, faculty and community users who need to do research that depends on searching the UHCARL online catalog are advised to use the catalogs and borrow material before Oct. 10. Limited manual book check out will be available, but other circulation
services will be restricted or not offered during the upgrade. |
