Tips for a good night's rest pt. 2
When insomnia hits, it can leave you frustrated, especially when you're exhausted from handling the daily grind. Dr. Bruce Soll, a professor in pulmonary medicine says in addition to sticking to a daily and nightly routine, limit your intake of caffeine. Follow a simple rule like no caffeine after noontime. Next aside contemplation time. Write down what you think about when you do toss and turn and make an appointment with yourself to think about those things during the day, instead. Next, don't go to bed until you feel sleepy, even if that means staying
up later than you think you should. Avoid alcohol and sleeping pills. Alcohol
may put you to sleep, but you'll likely awaken during the night. Sleeping
pills are sometimes useful but in the long term they tend to interfere with
sleep. |
