Ready, set, goto Manoa pt. 1

The academic journey from high school to college is not an easy one. Rules constantly change, and because of that, the best source of advice on getting accepted and making a successful transition to college is a high school counselor. That according to UH Manoa's admissions and records director Dave Robb.

Using their experience and training, high school counselors alert students about potential problems, advise them about college prep courses and encourage them to apply for financial aid.

As high school freshmen, students should let their counselors know of their intention to go to college. The students must take college prep classes and strive for a grade point average of 2.8 or above on a 4.0 scale.

A sophomore should enroll in college prep classes and consider taking the college entrance exam for practice.

I'll tell you what high school juniors and seniors need to do to in order to be accepted at UH Manoa on tomorrow's University Report, I'm Tracy Orillo-Donovan.
