Honolulu CC's new degree takes off this fall
A new degree program will literally take off this fall semester at Honolulu Community College. The UH Board of Regents has approved a Commercial Aviation Program that teams the college with the University of North Dakota to offer pilot training in Hawaii. The five-semester associate degree in aviation program will lead to private and commercial pilot and flight instructor certification, qualifying graduates for charter, cargo, flight instructor and other general aviation jobs. It also articulates fully into North Dakota's baccalaureate aerospace program, one of the nation's leading sources of commercial and corporate airline pilots. The program will use airport facilities that also house Honolulu CC's aeronautics maintenance program. The community college will also provide faculty and academic and student support. The University of North Dakota will provide aircraft, flight instructors, insurance and Federal Aviation Administration certification. This is the University Report, I'm Tracy Orillo Donovan. |
