UHM School of Nursing offers PhD, establishes international center
The University of Hawaii at Manoa's School of Nursing now offers Hawaii's first doctoral nursing program. It's also home to a new international education center. The Aw International Center for Health and Healing Education draws on the expertise of national and international scholars in developing interdisciplinary and experiential programs in nursing instruction, research and practice. Proposed efforts include development of new and experimental models of education, alternative models for clinical care and publications in multiple languages to disseminate information that can improve nursing and health care delivery worldwide. The center will also explore complementary and alternative health and healing practices and deliver professional development for nursing and other health practitioners. The program will begin fall semester and is expected to graduate its first doctoral candidates in 2001. This is the University Report, I'm Tracy Orillo-Donovan. |
