Honolulu CC cosmetician program
A one-hour facial during lunch or a day of pampering at the spa is a luxury many people only dream about. Honolulu Community College has added a program to give people that kind of pampering in a new program called Cosmetician Training that trains students to do facials, makeup, nails and waxing. The Community College is the only school in Hawaii to offer state-certified cosmetician training, says Professor Nancy Au. The program was also designed to meet a growing demand for certified cosmeticians to provide facials, manicures and pedicures at luxury hotels and salons offering spa services. From now until August 7, Honolulu CC will offer services for facials and nail work to the general public for a nominal fee. That's when students practice their skills and clients experience luxury for much less than the price at the "spa." For more information, call 845-9131.
