Seiji Naya Honored by International Economist and Government Officials
Seiji Naya, a UH economics professor currently on leave, was honored by more than 100 international economists and government officials at the Pacific Rim Allied Economic Organizations Conference recently in Bangkok. Naya was recognized for his outstanding contributions as an educator, for his research on Asian economic cooperation and for advising Asian governments. Naya has authored several books and journal articles on Asia and has also served as director of the Asian Studies Program and chairman of the Department of Economics at UH. Gov. Ben Cayetano recognized Seiji Naya for his achievement in economics and especially Asia-Pacific economic development saying his knowledge of and influence in this region benefits Hawaii. The conference was organized by the Western Economic Association International, a nonprofit U.S. educational organization dedicated to encouraging and communicating economic research and analysis.
