UH Dissertation Is UMI Best-Seller of 1997

The best-selling dissertation of 1997 was written by a University of Hawaii graduate.

George Tanner is a 1996 UH doctoral recipient and his dissertation-"The Problem of 'World Order' When the World Is Your Village Versus Your Globe"-earned him a PhD in political science.

A major in the U.S. Army, Tanner is an associate dean and the youngest PhD-holding faculty member at the Joint Military Intelligence College, or JMIC. He teaches national security policy and international relations.

Created by an act of Congress, JMIC is the only college authorized by Congress to confer a Master of Strategic Intelligence degree.

Tanner confirms that his work is being used as a text in methodology courses at JMIC and at least two other colleges.

Other best-selling dissertations were written by students from Rutgers, Harvard, Princeton, UCLA, Cornell and Stanford.

This is the University Report, I'm Tracy Orillo Donovan.
