Renee Bell is a second-year student in the food services program at Hawai‘i Community College. While physically challenged, Bell maintains a strong positive attitude and is determined to succeed in whatever her goals may be, including running her own restaurant.

Bell willingly puts in the extra effort to achieve both inside and outside the classroom and is well liked by her peers and instructors. As a prime example of her selfless compassion and desire to help others, Bell offers her services as a note-taker to a fellow student who is hearing impaired and took a sign language class in the evenings to learn how to better communicate with her classmate.

Bell has two adult children, one of whom is a fellow classmate attending Hawai‘i CC and is also pursuing a degree in food services.

One of Bell’s professors predicts, “She is a hard worker and conscientious student and with continued education and job experience, will become a success in her chosen field.”
