Ratifies Contract
The University of Hawai‘i Professional Assembly announced on Thurs., April
8 that faculty members voted to ratify a six-year contract by a margin of 82
percent, with 65 percent participation. President Evan S. Dobelle issued the
following statement in response to the ratification:
“ When I came to the University of Hawai‘i, my number one priority
was higher faculty salaries. I am deeply gratified by the support of everyone
involved in ratifying this agreement. I believe it is the longest term contract
for public higher education faculty across the country and gives UH faculty both
validation and stability.”

Honor Society Wins Big
Kapi‘olani
CC's Alpha Kappa Psi chapter.
Alpha Kappa Psi, the Kapi‘olani CC chapter of Phi Theta Kappa International
Honor Society, won seven awards at the Pacific Region Convention held at the
campus on Sat., March 6. The chapter received Hallmark Awards in all categories
recognized by the society—leadership, scholarship, service and fellowship.
They were also named a 5-star chapter in the society.
Several individuals were also recognized—Susan Tamayo was named Distinguished
President of the Pacific Region, Michelle Sasaki was awarded Distinguished Officer
of the Pacific Region and Stacy Kinoshita was selected as Distinguished Member
of the Pacific Region.
