Manoa Chancellor Peter
Englert, right, congratulated the campus's outstanding
service awardees at Hawai‘i Hall in July. They are, from left, Richard

Marine Lab who maintains the physical plant and specialized equipment; Stanley
Yogi, Department of Buildings and Grounds Management
custodial employee assigned to the College of Business Administration
who has worked to "green" the facility and assist with charitable
drives, and Joanne Kurosawa,
secretary in the College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources
Department of Molecular Science and Bioengineering and a frequent volunteer
for college outreach activities.
Honors and Appointments
Manoa Professor of Law Ronald
C. Brown has been awarded a Fulbright Distinguished
Lecturer award to Peking University Law School during the coming school
year. Brown will work on U.S.-Chinese labor and employment laws and
legal reform.
Two veteran Waikiki Aquarium
staffers have been named department heads—Jerry
Crow as curator of live exhibits and Mark
Heckman as director of education. Both are in their second
decade with the aquarium.
Ilan
Noy, former Israeli paratrooper and tour guide to Asia
and Central America, has joined Manoa's Department of Economics as
an assistant professor. He received master's and doctoral degrees from
University of California, Santa Cruz with a focus on financial crises
in developing countries. |
