Manoa’s
Outreach College presents “Women in Sports Media” by
KGMB’s Liz Chun on Wed., July 28, 7 p.m. in the Krauss Hall
Yukiyoshi Room. Men represented in college and professional sports
greatly out number women. The ratio is about the same for the press
who cover sports. But is sports coverage limited to an exclusive
boys club? How has the field of sports journalism grown to accept
women in the locker room, on the sidelines and at the anchor desk?
Chun gives her perspective on sports journalism.
Chun is the first and only female sports director in the state of
Hawai‘i and has been with KGMB 9 since 1996 where she worked
her way from behind the scenes to in front of the camera. She started
as a newsroom associate producer before becoming a news photographer
and editor.
