Approves UH System Reorganization
At
its monthly meeting held on Nov. 19 at the Manoa campus, the Board
of Regents approved a proposed reorganization of the university’s
system level offices and functions. The reorganization will be accomplished
with annual cost savings of approximately $876,000. The reorganization
includes the elimination of three executive positions, creation of
one executive position and the abolishment of five positions.
In other action, the board
• granted provisional approval for the establishment of
the Applied Research Laboratory at Manoa, as the fifth such center designated
by the Department of Defense as a Navy, contingent on further consultation
• approved the issuance of a request for proposals
for the development of student housing at Manoa and requests for qualifications
for the development of the Cancer Research Center of Hawai‘i at
Kaka‘ako and the University of Hawai‘i—West O‘ahu
campus
