Honolulu CC hosts the third annual CSI@HCC team sleuthing event
on April 1. This fun competition, Murder at the Honolulu CC Ballet,
lets five-member teams test their crime scene investigation skills.
The night starts with the case presented onstage, and teams can interview
witnesses and collect evidence to solve a murder. There will be prizes,
demonstrations and much more. The deadline to sign up a team is March

Historical Narrative in Art Lecture
Aaron Kerner discusses the art exhibit Collapsing Histories on
Mon., March 14, 7:30 p.m. at Manoa’s Art Building 101. Collapsing
Histories addresses the obscuring of cultural and personal memory
and confronts core issues of constructing historical narratives.
Twelve artists consider the relationship between memory and history
and demonstrate the fragile and tenuous nature of human memory. (808)

Russia in British Caricature Lecture
Anthony Cross presents the lecture “Through the Distorting
Mirror: Russian in English Caricature from Hogarth to George Cruikshank” on
Tues., March 15, 3 p.m. at Manoa’s Saunders 704. The reign
of Catherine the Great of Russia coincided with the golden age of
British caricature. In the political Grand Guignol of the times,
the empress loomed large as the embodiment of Russia’s incursions
into European affairs and play a role in more than 40 caricatures
drawn by some of the greatest and merciless talents of the day. (808)

Pol Pot Biography Lecture
Author Philip Short presents the Macaulay lecture on Wed., March
16, 11:30 a.m. at Manoa’s Center for Korean Studies. Short’s
new biography of Pol Pot, Anatomy of a Nightmare raises
issues about the dictator’s ascent to power, and discusses
the origins of the Khmer Rouge regime. Anatomy of a Nightmare is

Coral Reef Preservation Seminar
Manoa Researcher Robert Richmond and RCUH
Executive Director Michael Hamnett present
the seminar “When Worlds Collide: The Adventures of a Marine
Biologist, a Physical Oceanographer and a Social Scientist on the
Coral Reefs of Micronesia” on Wed., March 16, 12–1 p.m.
at the Manoa Campus Center executive dining room. Coral reefs are
magnificent ecosystems of great ecological, cultural and economic
value to the people of the Pacific Islands. Land-based activities
tied to development, agriculture and population growth have caused
coastal coral reefs to suffer declines in health, vitality and related
productivity. Richmond and Hamnett will discuss their efforts in
Micronesia to best address coral reef issues, the successes and failures

American Music Concert

Internationally-acclaimed baritone, Anthony Brown will perform at
Manoa’s Orvis Auditorium, on Thurs., March 17, 7:30 p.m. Brown
is a promoter of peace and goodwill around the world and across the
United States. Brown’s program will feature spirituals, one
of the largest bodies of American folksong that continues into the
21st century. This music continues to inspire people around the world
