The Beaux Arts Trio performs on Thurs., April 14, 7:30 p.m. at
Manoa’s Orvis Auditorium. Pianist Menahem Pressler, violinist
Daniel Hope and cellist Antonio Meneses present a concert of Beethoven Piano
Trio op.1, no.2, Dvorak’s “Dumky” Trio and
a new work by Gyorgy Kurtag honoring the Beaux Arts Trio’s
10th anniversary. The internationally renowned trio has toured extensively
in the United States, Europe and Asia, and their extensive discography

Substance Abuse Conference Signup
Early registration ends April 15 for Best Practices in Substance
Abuse Treatments, a national conference hosted by Hawai‘i Community
College July 17-21. Sessions include Relapse Prevention, Girls and

Korean Film Screening
The film JSA (Joint Security Area) will be screened on Wed., April
13, 7 p.m. at Kapi‘olani CC’s Ohia Auditorium 118. A
shooting along the heavy militarized border between North and Sough
Korea leaves two North Korean soldiers and a South Korean soldier
injured. A neutral U.N. Swiss Army team is called upon to investigate
the potentially explosive political situation.
Brass Quintet at Kaua‘i
Honolulu Brass performs on Fri., April 15, at Kaua‘i Performing
Arts Center. Choosing from repertoire spanning five centuries, from
popular classics to jazz, renaissance to contemporary, the Honolulu

Hawai‘i Law Symposium
The Hawaiian Society of Law and Politics holds its 1st Annual Symposium
on Sat., April 16, 8 a.m.–5 p.m. at Manoa’s Imin International
Conference Center. The symposium will encourage the development of
curriculum that engages Hawaiian Statehood and examines Hawai‘i,
both past and present, within the rubric of international law, applicable

International Night at Hilo
Hilo hosts International Nights 2005 April 15–16, 7:30 p.m.
in the Hilo Theatre, bringing together cultures with performances
by students and other community members. Countries or cultures to
be represented this year include Hawai‘i, Brazil, Japan, the
Marshall Islands, Pohnpei, the U.S., Germany, Palau, Chuuk, Kosrae,
American Samoa, Korea, Hong Kong and the Lakota/Creek tribes of North

Wind Quintet at Windward

Windward CC’s Paliku Theatre hosts the Spring Wind Quintet
on Mon., April 18, 7:30 p.m. The Spring Wind Quintet, recognized
as one of the country's leading woodwind quintets, has been a major
force in the development of chamber music in Hawai‘i. Many
new works have been composed and arranged especially for the Spring
