• March 15, 12:30 p.m., Hale Akoakoa 105—DreamWorlds II: Desire, Sex and Power in Music Video screening. This film illustrates the systematic representations of women in music videos, and how these representations tell a dangerous and narrow set of stories about what it means to be female or male.
• March 16, 12: 40 p.m., Paliku Theatre—KGMB9 News Anchor Kim Gennaula talks about her experiences as a female news anchor in Hawai‘i
• March 23, 12: 40 p.m., Hale Akoakoa 105—Nancie Caraway, director of Women's Human Rights Project at Manoa speaks on global human trafficking.

Stolen Waters Screening

Honolulu CC screens Stolen Waters on Wed., March 15, 11 a.m. Stolen Waters documents the battle over the water in Waiahole Ditch on the island of O‘ahu, where taro farmers and long-time residents seek to reclaim the natural stream waters that were taken in the early 1900s by sugar plantations. Thomas Churchill discusses his book Triumph Over Marcos: Filipino American Union Cannery Organizers, Their Assassination and the Trial That Followed on Thurs., March 16, noon at Manoa’s Moore 328. Triumph Over Marcos is a true story based on Gene Viernes and Silme Domingo and their struggle to reform cannery workplaces. It aslo covers their assassination and the trial that followed. Dance Concert

Macbeth Films at Leeward

Leeward screens two films on Fri., March 17, as part of the Semester of Shakespeare: Celebrating 400 Years of Macbeth. Throne of Blood, a loose adaptation of the Shakespeare play by the legendary Akira Kurosawa, screens at 10 a.m. at Leeward’s Theater mainstage. Benefit Concert at Windward

Violinist Ignace Jang leads a benefit concert at Windward CC’s Paliku Theatre on Fri., March 17, 7:30 p.m. Joining Jang will be pianists Thomas Rosenkranz and Jessica Choi and cellist I-Bei Lin. Windward CC’s Paliku Theatre features Grammy winner Jeff Peterson on Sat., March 18, 3 and 7 p.m. This concert showcases Peterson’s newest CD, Slack Key Jazz, a landmark recording that effortlessly joins slack key and jazz guitar styles for the first time. Peterson will be joined by singer and composer Dana Hanchard, drummer and ukulele player Abe Lagrimas and bass player Ernie Provencher. (808) 235-7433

Ballet Folklorico de Filipinas

Ramon Obusan`s Ballet Folklorico de Filipinas performs The Mysterious and Unknown Rituals of the Philippines on Sat., March 18, 7:30 p.m. at the Blaisdell Concert Hall. Ballet Folklorico de Filipinas is a folk dance company of the Cultural Center of the Philippines in Manila. The company`s reputation has continued to grow, thanks to its exceptional artistic qualities, the competence of its creator Ramon Obusan and its untiring pursuit of ethnographic research.
