Prestigious Journal Finds a Home at Medical School

The John A. Burns School of Medicine has been selected as the new home for Ecosystem Health, the leading international journal for integrative research on the relationship between the health of ecosystems, human health and sustainability.

Ecosystem health is a newly emerging transdisciplinary field focusing the relationship between the condition of ecosystems, including developed urban and rural environments as well as natural ecosystems, and the health and well being of human populations. The journal includes peer-reviewed articles on global change and human health, emerging infectious disease, conservation medicine, ecosystem management and sustainability, and ethics and social equity.

Bruce Wilcox, professor and chair of the medical school’s new Division of Ecology and Health, will be the journal’s editor-in-chief. "The choice to relocate the journal here was made largely as result of the commitment demonstrated both by the medical school and the university to innovation and leadership in the fields of environment, medicine, health and sustainability," Wilcox said.
