Theatre presents Kyogen:
Laughter for All Time on the mainstage Dec. 614, 8 p.m. and Dec.
15, 2 p.m. Kyogen is a collection of three short comedies of the classical
"kyogen" theatre of Japan. Kyogen will be performed in English,
translated especially for this production. The plays feature a cast of UH Manoa
students, trained under the guidance of master artists from Japan. Each play
is a light comedy that uses farcical situations, physical humor, mime and moments
of song and dance.
Tickets for Kyogen: Laughter for All Time go on sale Nov. 25 at the Kennedy

Web site. Prices are $12 regular, $10 for seniors, military, UH faculty
and staff, $8 for youth and non-UH Manoa students, and $3 for UH Manoa students

Dreaming of a Baroque
Christmas
UH Manoa Outreach College
welcomes the Aulos Ensemble as part of the University of Hawaii Presents
Series and the Honolulu Chamber Music Series. The Aulos Ensemble will be performing
"A Baroque Christmas" with vocalist Julianne Baird on Dec. 6, 7:30
p.m. at Orvis Auditorium. They will present works by Bach, Vivaldi and Scarlatti
as well as a selection of traditional carols. The Aulos Ensemble will be available
for a free "meet the artist" session on Dec. 6, 6:30 p.m. at the UH
Manoa Music Building, room 36.
The ensemble includes Christopher Krueger, flute; Marc Schachman, oboe; Linda
Quan, violin; Myron Lutzke, cello and Arthur Haas, harpsichord. All are known
for impeccable intonation resulting in the highest level of music making. They
have been hailed as musical pioneers, setting a standard for stylistic expertise
that is rarely matched.
Tickets are $24, $15 for students and are available at the Campus Center ticket

Oil Painting Collection
at Kapiolani CC Dining Room
Kapiolani CCs
Koa Gallery presents Land and Sea, a collection of oil paintings by local
artists Mari Kuramochi and Tom Smith. These paintings of Hawaiian flora and
oceanscapes are displayed at the colleges Kaikena Fine Dining Room
in the Ohelo Building. Land and Sea will be on display through Dec. 11.

Center presents the 2002 Holiday Craft Fair Dec. 56, 11:30 a.m.1:30
p.m. in the John A. Burns Hall. The fair features angel dolls and pins, baked
goods, jewelry, baby quilts, hand painted glassware, ornaments, scented soaps
and much more.
Stanford Professor
Lectures on Education at UH Manoa
Linda Darling-Hammond presents her lecture "Ensuring Access to Highly Qualified
Teachers: Meeting the Challenge" on Thurs., Dec. 12, 7:308:30 p.m.
at the UH Manoa School of Architecture Auditorium. Darling-Hammond is the Charles
E. Ducommun Professor of Education at Stanford University where she teaches
education policy courses and oversees the teacher education programs. The lecture
is presented by the Fifth Annual Alice and Carl Daeufer, UH Professional Assembly
