Kimchee
UH Hilo and
the Big Island Korean Club is holding its first-ever Kimchee Festival
on Sat., June 21, 10:30 a.m.12:30 p.m. at the Wailoa State
Park Pavilion 1. The event features a step-by-step kimchee making
demonstration of the five most popular types of kimchee. There
will also be cooking demonstrations of selected culinary traditions,
all using kimchee as a major ingredient. The Kimchee Festival is
part of the Korean Immigration Centennial Celebration. For more

Korean History Come Alive
UH Manoa English Professor Frank Steward will
lead a discussion on the making of the book, The Century of the Tiger: the
Untold Story of Koreans in America on Wed., June 18, 7 p.m. in the UH Manoa
Krauss Hall Yukiyoshi Room. Discover what it took to bring Korean American
art, literature and history together in a single book accessible to everyone.

Mold
Control
The First Annual Institute for Mold Control will be held on June 1718,
8 a.m.5 p.m. at the UHM Hawaii Institute for Geophysics 110 auditorium.
Experts will be presenting on identification, lab reports, remediation protocols,
moisture control, HVAC systems, structural design, mechanical engineering,
concrete/moisture barriers, IAQ issues, insurance, legal considerations and

The Pacific Asian Management Institute (PAMI) presents two lectures this weekMarket
and Technology Leadership in the Chinese Automobile Industry: Strategic Management
in a Dynamic Environment on Tues., June 17, and Multinational Enterprises and
Globalization: A Regulatory Backlash? on Thurs., June 19. Both lectures will

In Market
and Technology Leadership, Rene Haak, deputy director of
the German Institute for Japanese Studies in Tokyo will discus
the specifics of the Chinese market and its advantages as an
automobile manufacturing location as well as a factor in the
international automobile industry.
In Multinational
Enterprises and Globalization, Daniel Van den Bulcke, professor
of international management and development at the University
of Antwerp, Belgium will discuss foreign investment issues.
