Regents Propose
New Logo Process, Appoint New Chair
The UH Board of
Regents heard subcommittee recommendations last Friday, regarding UH
system logo
and branding efforts. The subcommittee proposed
that the university work with the Hawai'i chapter of AIGA (American Institute
of Graphic Arts) to develop a process that would encourage the use of
professional, local designers or design firms and pay for the project
with money from logo merchandise sales instead of tax dollars. The recommendation
is expected to be voted on at the September BOR meeting. Read
the press
release for more details.
In other action, the regents elected Patricia Lee to serve as chair and
Kitty Lagareta to serve as vice chair, effective immediately.
The
regents also acknowledged receipt of research and training grants
totaling nearly $25 million for the one-month period
ending June 15,
bringing the year-to-date total to more than $300 million for the first
time.
In addition the BOR approved several degree programs and certificates.

more about these and other actions taken at the July
Board of Regents meeting.
