CC Selects Candidates for Chief Academic Officer
The candidates for Leeward CC chief academic officer (vice chancellor) will be
holding open forums during the week of Feb. 23. All forums will be held at Leeward
CC in room GT-105.
• Douglas Dykstra, interim
vice chancellor and chief academic officer at Leeward CC. His presentation is
on Wed., Feb. 25, 2 p.m.
• Brad Tyndall, dean of instruction at Front Range Community
College–Larimer Campus, Fort Collins, Colorado. His presentation is on
Thurs., Feb. 26, 2:30 p.m.
• Peter Quigley, dean of the College of Arts and Humanities
at Minnesota State University, Moorhead, Minnesota. His presentation is on Fri.,
Feb. 27, 12:30 p.m.
• Jeanne Clerc, assistant vice president for educational
affairs at Georgia Perimeter College, Atlanta, Georgia. Her presentation is on
Fri., Feb. 27, 2 p.m.

Kapi‘olani
Cleans Up
On Feb. 8, Kapi‘olani CC held the first of two Cactus-n-Coffee Garden Clean
Up projects. Kapi‘olani staff, faculty and students, along with 33 McKinley
High School students worked to beautify the campus’ cactus garden.
Manoa
Athletics Fully Certified by NCAA
The
UH Manoa athletic
department has
been fully certified by
the National
Collegiate Athletic Association,
indicating that university is “in substantial conformity with operating
principles” of the governing organization. The certification program
examines an institution’s governance and commitment
to rules compliance, academic integrity, fiscal integrity
and equity, welfare and sportsmanship.
Certification in good standing is for a 10-year period;
all 325 active Division I members participate in the

Ecke
Pledge Launches Campaign to Build Tea Lodge
UH Emeritus Professor Tseng Yuho Ecke pledged
$600,000 to launch plans to build the Shi Wu Tea Lodge
at the Harold L. Lyon Arboretum in Manoa Valley. Ecke’s pledge
launches a fundraising initiative for the creation of a
cultural and educational gathering place for the practice
and enjoyment of the humanities. The Shi Wu Tea Lodge will
be a guild available to Manoa faculty and staff, their guests
and special visitors, for workshops,
seminars, meetings and tea service. An estimated $1,200,000
is
needed to fully establish the Shi Wu Tea Lodge. Read the press
