West Region honors Vul coach Oda

University of Hawaii at Hilo Tennis Coach Kula Oda has been selected the
NCAA Division II West Region Men's Coach of the Year.

Oda, who coaches both the men's and women's squad, has guided his
33rd-ranked men's squad to a 13-9 overall record and 7-4 Pacific West
Conference mark.

In the recent PWC championships, both UHH squads advanced to the title
match and eventually fell to Brigham Young University-Hawaii.

The season continues for both teams in the West Regional Championship.

The 12th-ranked women (12-7, 7-4) start with a noon match against Hawaii
Pacific University on Tuesday, May 3 at the UHH tennis courts.

The winner of the match along with the UHH men's team then head to
Southern California to face University of California San Diego in the
West Region title matches.

The 2004-05 NCAA Division II Tennis Championships will be held May 12-16
in Altamonte Springs, Fla.
