Welcome to the Western Curriculum Coordination Center (WCCC) website. WCCC is administered by the Curriculum Studies Department, College of Education, University of Hawaii at Manoa.

In support of the College of Education, its mission, and its commitment to preparing high quality educational professionals, the mission of the Western Curriculum Coordination Center is to search, plan, develop, and implement extramural research and training grants and contracts in Education and related areas, especially those that impact Hawaii and other Pacific Island states and territories.  Projects aim to exemplify the College’s core values to be knowledgeable, effective, and caring.

WCCC maintains a self-supporting resource library that serves as a clearinghouse for over 20,000 curriculum and resource materials in bilingual/ESL, drug and violence prevention, literacy, school-to-work, career-technical- vocational, and related academic education. These materials have been collected from sources throughout the United States and affiliated island entities, and many are not available from commercial publishers. WCCC also subscribes to journals and periodicals and has a collection of audio-visual materials and vocational education computer software.

WCCC's functions include:

  • Collection and dissemination of information on curriculum development activities and available resources;
  • Assessment of curriculum needs;
  • Coordination of curriculum development activities;
  • Coordination and delivery of courses/workshops;
  • Response to requests for materials and information;
  • Loan of curriculum and instructioinal materials;
  • Database searches;
  • Dissemination of monthly curriculum acquisition and abstract lists;
  • Development of specialized bibliographies;
  • Provision of technical assistance;
  • Links to other educational resources.
