Research
Interests: I
grew up in Canada and Auburn, AL (War Eagle!) and headed back North
to get my BA in Biology with a specialization in Marine Science from
Boston University. While at BU I interned at the New England Aquarium
working in the penguin and dive department. I also studied at Woods
Hole and had the opportunity to study sperm whale acoustics in Dominica.
After graduation I worked for a nonprofit Cetacean research organization
in Gloucester, MA where I collected field behavioral data on marine
mammals and assisted in photo identification. I also worked as a fisheries
and endangered species observer for NMFS which required living on
vessels for up to 40 days without ever seeing land (although I became
very friendly with sea turtles and various fish species). Following
my field work I had a 2 year stint teaching marine science and AP
Biology at a high school in Ocala, FL. I am studying Odontocete bioacoustics
using Auditory Evoked Potential measurements.
