Research Interests:

My research interests focuses on the ecology, population genetics and conservation of the Laysan Albatross. Albatross are large, pelagic birds that spend the vast majority of their live at sea and come to land only to breed. My dissertation focuses on three areas:

1. Examining how physical and biological oceanographic factors determine their distribution and oceanic habitat use.

2. Determining the population structure and amount of gene flow between each insular breeding population.

3. Examining the spatial and temporal overlap of Laysan Albatross distribution with North Pacific Longline fisheries and determining whether bycatch mortality in the fishery is population biased.
