Joy Ann Nagaue

Joy Ann Nagaue is an associate professor in fashion technology at Honolulu Community College. She is an inspirational teacher who challenges students to do their best. Nagaue teaches them with passion and leads by example.
Nagaue is described as kind, supportive and always there to help and answer questions. She is very knowledgeable about her field and encourages students to be unafraid to make mistakes.
Her efforts have garnered the fashion technology department local recognition, and her graduates have been featured in the reality television series, Project Runway.
Nagaue genuinely cares for her students. She strives to motivate them to believe in themselves, while bringing out their originality and creativity.
The Regents’ Medal for Excellence in Teaching is awarded by the Board of Regents as tribute to faculty members who exhibit an extraordinary level of subject mastery and scholarship, teaching effectiveness and creativity and personal values that benefit students. The board also awards the Regents’ Medal for Excellence in Research.
