COA Faculty Research Affiliate Program (FRAP)

Launched in March 2021, the COA Faculty Research Affiliate Program (FRAP) is composed of diverse scholars interested in the study of aging. Membership as a faculty research affiliate is open to all UH faculty members whose research and/or teaching activities involve aging and the aging population. There are many benefits to joining the FRAP. Membership is free but requires a short application form.

Priority review will occur for applications submitted by May 31, 2021. Notification of FRAP membership will be announced no later than June 18, 2021. 

FRAP Criteria:

Members contribute to COA by at least 2 criteria:

  • Teaching a course on aging
  • Leading a research project on aging 
  • Post at least 2 student research opportunities each year advertised through COA 
  • Submit at least 2 announcements annually to the COA newsletter
    • Aging- related news 
    • Educational activities 
    • Events and calendar 
    • Resources such as jobs or grants  


  • Invitation to the Annual COA Meeting & Award Ceremony
  • Research networking opportunities with peer scholars including publication opportunities, special journal issues, and conference panel proposal development
  • Access to student research assistant recruitment pool
  • Training opportunities such as grant writing, research mentorship, data science, communications, etc.
  • Invitations to present your research during COA-hosted seminars and colloquia
  • Legislative outreach to local and national policymakers
  • Media outreach and engagement including ability to submit announcements to the public COA newsletter and inclusion in COA media materials pertaining to your research 
  • Connections to sponsors, foundations, and philanthropists
  • International networking across Asia & the Pacific
