Kimsooja
Kimsooja is a conceptual and performance artist of ennobling ambition and seriousness. Her work combines performance, video, and installation, and addresses issues of the displaced self. In her well-known performances and videos, A Needle Woman, Kimsooja stands silently, her back turned to the viewer, while throngs of people move past her in various cities of the world. In these works, through her immobility, she inverts the logic of performance and the notion of the artist as the predominant actor. |
