Lisa Hoke was born in Virginia Beach, Virginia, 1952. She has a BFA, 1978, from Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond and a BA, 1974, from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Hoke received The Joan Mitchell Foundation Grant in 1996. Her work is in the collections of the New Orleans Museum of Art, the New York Public Library, the Orlando Museum of Art, and the Whitney Museum of American Art.
