are mailed or faxed directly to them.
Below are some commonly asked
questions regarding the new ordering process for purchasing
Apple Computer products.
What is the Apple Store
for Higher Education?
The Apple Store for Higher
Education is a way to get complete information on Apple
education products. You will find current specifications for
every product. You can also choose from hundreds of
build-to-order configurations and print out a detailed price
quote. The most up-to-date pricing for Apple products will
always be available at the Apple Store for Higher Education.
Can individuals purchase from
the Apple Store for Higher Education?
Yes, the Apple Store has
educational pricing for Departments, Faculty, Staff and
Students.
How do I access the Apple
Store for Higher Education?
The site of the Apple Store is http://www.apple.com/education/store.
Departments should select "Higher Education
Institution" and Higher Education individuals should select
"Higher Education Faculty, Staff, and Students".
Remember to select The University of Hawaii Bookstore as your
"school" so that Apple will file your proposed order
correctly.
Am I placing an order when I
am shopping in the Apple Store for Higher Education?
Departments are NOT placing an
order. You are creating a proposal at the Apple site which you
will be able to use as a price quotation for a purchase
requisition. Higher Education individuals have the option to
place their proposed order with Apple Computer, Inc. via credit
card, money order, cashier's check, or money order.
How do I create a proposal?
You will be able to select
hardware, software and peripherals which you are interested in
purchasing. At the end of your shopping you will be able to
"checkout". Once this is done you will need to
"request a proposal". Finally, a proposal number will
be assigned to your proposed order. Please remember to fill-in
all information requested for faster order processing.
What do I do with this
proposal number?
You will submit a purchase
requisition to your on-campus University of Hawaii Bookstore
along with your proposal number, the last name of the proposer
and/or a print out of your proposed order. Please remember that
the University of Hawaii Bookstore requires original signatures
on the purchase requisitions.
Do I need to add tax to my
purchase requisition?
Yes, an additional hawaiian impost
and general excise tax needs to be added to the total
purchase. Apple Computer, Inc. will be assessing these taxes on
ALL orders from the The Apple Store for Education.
How do I find out how much tax
I need to add to my purchase requisition?
The hawaiian impost tax will vary
according to the product(s) ordered. The general excise tax is
currently set at 4.16%. Departments can factor in a ESTIMATED
impost tax of .5% and a general excise of 4.16%. The Bookstore
will charge you the actual tax when processing the requistion.
If you require the EXACT total tax amount please feel free to
contact Kurt Minato at (808)956-5089 for this information.
Will I get a courtesy discount
on my requisition?
No, unfortunately due to Apple's
new national price restructuring the University of Hawaii
Bookstore is no longer able to apply a courtesy discount on all
products ordered through the Apple Store. The prices reflected
on the Apple Store for Higher Education will be the same for all
higher education institutions throughout the United States. We
will still honor the discount for all other computer merchandise
ordered through the Bookstore.
How do I get my merchandise?
Your order will be shipped to
your on-campus University of Hawaii Bookstore. If you wish to
have your order delivered to your ON-CAMPUS department, please
specify "delivery" on your requisition. If you do not
specify "delivery" the requisitioner will be contacted
for pick-up. Merchandise will be picked-up at the University of
Hawaii Bookstores. If you want your order delivered
"Complete" please note this on the purchase
requisition. Please remember that this may cause delays to your
order if one or more items are backordered at Apple Computer,
Inc. If you do not specify "Complete", merchandise
will be charged and delivered as the merchandise arrives at the
Bookstore.
I work on a neighbor island
campus, how can I order Apple merchandise?
You will follow the same steps in
creating a proposed order. You will then submit your purchase
requisition to your on-campus bookstore. Your on-campus
bookstore will submit your purchase requisition to the Manoa
bookstore. Your order will be shipped to the neighbor island
bookstore.
Do I need to pay for shipping?

Hilo, Kauai, and Maui. Items will be shipped for Free to your
on-campus Bookstore.

the Bookstore please insure product configuration and
compatibility.
