Papua (formerly a part of the province known as Irian Jaya) is a resource-rich province in Indonesia that has been governed as a special autonomous area since 2001. Elected early this year by a landslide, Governor Enembe has identified improving the education system in Papua as one of his administration's main goals.
The panel will discuss the importance of building capacity in the education sector to improve the socioeconomic conditions and status of the Papuan people. It will explore a range of policy options including making investments in education and economic partnerships with institutions in the region.
