Poet Ko Ŭn and Korean Literature in the World

Korea’s foremost contemporary poet, Ko Ŭn, will participate in a symposium focusing on his works and the place of Korean literature in the world. Other participants in the symposium are Brother Anthony of Taizé, the foremost English-language translator of Ko’s poetry; Lee Sang-hwa, emeritus professor of English at Joongang University; and Yung-Hee Kim, professor of Korean literature at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa. Professor Gary Pak of the UH Mānoa Department of English will moderate the program, which is co-sponsored by the UH Mānoa College of Languages, Linguistics, and Literature and Department of English.
