Inside the Ethnic Studies Studio...featuring Demvir Macaraeg and Josh Sevellino

This presentation will feature two members of Beat Rock Krew, Demvir Macaraeg and Joshua Sevellino, winners of local, national, and international dance competitions. In addition to Beat Rock Krew, Macaraeg is also a member of Academy of Hype. He organizes skillz talk, a local b-boy competition that has also helped to support the Hawaii Food Bank. Sevellino has won numerous competitions here in the islands and in the continental United States as well as participating in competitions in Asia, like B-boy in Shanghai. He also participated in the New Image-sponsored “Legacy†b-boy tour of the Philippines, where he traveled to various cities in the archipelago to conduct workshops with Filipino youth. The presenters will talk about hip hop dance, their experiences, and the role of hip hop in Hawai‘i.
