Basics of Beekeeping: An Introductory Course

Do you love honey? Interested in learning how to keep your own hive? Join beekeeper and Meli Honey Company owner Max Towey as he introduces the basics of beekeeping in this first class of a three-part series. Max will lead the participants in hands-on demonstrations on how honey is produced, pollination/ecological services, and disease identification. We will visit the hives here at Lyon Arboretum and also have a honey tasting. Meli Honey Company honeys will be available for purchase in our gift shop. *Safety Warning - Those with bee allergies are not recommended to attend*. Please wear coveredâ€toe shoes, and heavy pants (jeans, etc). Intermediate and Advanced classes will be offered beginning in June for those who have attended the Introductory class). Class Cost: $30.
