Traditional and contemporary Japanese taiko (drumming)

Taiko have been used since ancient times in Japan to send messages to faraway places, instill courage in samurai warriors, and for agrarian, religious, festival, and imperial court purposes.

Taiko Center of the Pacific is a school and performing group of traditional and contemporary Japanese drumming led by taiko master, Kenny Endo. Established in 1994, the group has performed throughout Hawaii, the mainland, and internationally.

This performance is part of MÄ€NOA International Education Week 2017 (MIEW 2017).
